Menu for the Week of August 25, 2014 – Surviving the Dog Days of Summer!

Hello!

As summer starts winding down and  SEC football approaches, the dog days of summer can be exhausting and hot.  Farmers markets and gardens are full of tomatoes, squash, okra, peppers, and more squash.  When it’s blazing hot and another dinner of squash stares at you in the face, The Spotted Trotter has exactly what you need to make delicious and easy meals and snacks!  BACON JAM!!  Try a twist on the traditional BLT with some Bacon Jam!  Slather some on a nice filet of salmon.  Need a snack?  Try dipping some fresh okra in Bacon Jam (brilliant!).  What about squash pie or grilled squash on crostinis with a nice smear of Bacon Jam!  OH YEAH! EAT GOOD MEAT!  Now selling bacon jam at your favorite butcher shop!  Come get some.

See you soon!
