Menu for the Week of April 30, 2012 — Please Meet The Global Growers Network!

Market season is officially underway, and thank you to Grant Park Farmers’ Market for an amazing opening day Sunday!  As a reminder, you can now find us Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at three intown outdoor markets!

This week, we are thrilled to announce our new partnership with the Global Growers Network, located just outside Decatur!   The Global Growers Network creates new agricultural opportunities in Georgia for international farmers who were forced to flee their homelands as refugees, due to war, genocide and persecution. The Network uses a whole-systems approach to produce good food, train and place farmers, and create economic opportunity for local communities in Georgia.  Last week, Kevin and the TST Team toured the farm and worked with GGN to pick out seeds to plant solely for use in our products.  Our hope is that by year’s end, we’ll be getting as much of our weekly produce as possible from a farm less than fifteen miles from our shop.  It doesn’t get more local than that!  Thank  you to Susan Pavlin, who serves on the Slow Food Atlanta Board with Kevin, for all of her hard work on this effort, and for letting The Spotted Trotter participate in the change!
